Return to Tourism

And so they headed back to their temporary home in the big city after a busy weekend visiting family and friends. What better to do when returning home than to indulge in some more TOURISM? It's pretty much a way of life at this point so let's spice things up and do the mother of all touristy things in NYC this weekend...

The Lady of the Harbor

Kyle is really on top of planning ahead, and made reservations a month in advance to go up to the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. Though we would have loved to go up in the crown, those reservations were 4 months out at least. The pedestal was cool though and had an interesting museum within it. Did you know the statue of liberty is made of solid gold and painted green? Well it is on the Internet so it must be true.
Ellis Island? Why not, it is on the way! Fun fact, doctors could assess health of immigrants in 6 seconds. And here I thought healthcare has advanced!

Governors Island

Orrrr.. Not. So, we had this grand ole plan to pack a lunch, put on our Sunday's best, and trot on over to the ferry to Governors island for a polo match (yes a polo match). Well I neglected to do that thing where you write on a napkin what time you have to be somewhere and work backwards to what time you have to leave. Well, not doing that in NYC is killer, cause you can't make up time by just getting in the left lane and hoping there aren't cops. Having work to do on Sunday morning didn't help too much either. Thanks company-x-that-I-work-for. So that whole plan pretty much feel through, and I told myself I'd just lie in the blog and reminisce about how splendid the polo match was, but I gotta tell it like it was... a failure!

Serendipity

Serendipity? What serendipity? The only serendipity we got that day was the restaurant. You know, the one from the movie? Well I dont really know either but Kyle tells me when things are famous and I always believe her. So anyway, we live right by the place but hadn't been there yet. We knew based on walking by it a hundred times that there is ALWAYS an hour and a half wait. So we played em and put in our names, hopped over to CPK for a quick TCP (Thai chicken pizza, duh) and got back just in time to be seated for our HUGE ass sundae. Thinking about it makes me sick right now cause I just ate Tutti Frutti (teaser for future blog).

Director's cuts

Also went to Lumbardis for pizza (delicious!) and Century 21 (meh).
