NYC Part 5

Juilliard

So I was hanging out with Julia Stiles at Juilliard when I realized my friend Mike that also goes there was having a dress rehearsal for his trombone choir concern the next day. I thought I'd pop in. It was a good time - it is just like going to a real concert except you don't have to pay and you get to see the musicians get ridiculed in the middle of the performance. Thanks for the entertainment Mike.

Post-Gaming

After the dress rehearsal we went out for dinner at 5 napkin burger and it was deeelicious. After dinner we hung out at Mike and Lindsay's apartment. What a treat! We hadn't sat on a couch for over a month, and man was it nice to just chill at a friend's apartment. Thanks M&L. Oh yeah, too bad it took us an hour (literally) of travelling on the subway to go 2 miles back home. "You can't get there from here" sometimes does apply in the city, and we are learning there are times you just need to swallow your pride and take a cab.

Chelsea Market

On the way to the high line we strolled through the Chelsea Market. Very cool - we will have to go back at some point. I must say, given the high number of skinny people in this city, I can't believe how popular sweets are! You can't turn a corner without seeing another ice cream/cupcake/cookie/pastry shop. And they always have skinny happy people leaving them eating these huge delicious-looking treats. My sweets intake has greatly increased since we moved here but I think it has been offset by my increased activity level, so we'll call it a draw.

China Town

Two trips there this weekend. Kyle went with Lindsay on Saturday, and Kyle and I headed back there Sunday night for some authentic Chinese cuisine at XO. We also tried out the highly recommended Ferrara Cafe.

Repeat Visitor

Shout-out to Dan who is our first repeat out-of-town visitor! He may have an unfair advantage since work is footing the bill, but hey we'll take what we can get. The three of us went to Spice Market in the meatpacking district (which is another cool area we checked out). We had a good time, and got a little update on our nephew Ben who we miss oh so dearly (keep sending videos!).

Bubble Boy

Hmm, no pictures yet for this week. Ok I'll put in a plug for "Bubble Boy" spotted in the meatpacking district this weekend. We had a great time walking the streets around there - it is a really cool area, and Kyle got to peer in the windows of DVF which is where Whitney works on "The City". Fashion aside, we also saw this random guy without a care in the world standing by a dumpster making huge bubbles. Cheers to him for finding a little serenity in this chaotic city.

Is 5napkin burger named that because the burgers are so messy? It sounds tasty though.

And, um, Julia Stiles? How come nobody else called you out on that?
